A Deep Technical Analysis of High-Gain Production Systems, Meltflow Dynamics, and Supply Chain Advantages.
Meltblown technology is one of the most direct and efficient methods of manufacturing fine fiber webs from thermoplastic polymers. The core of this technique is the extrusion of a molten polymer through a high-aspect-ratio die containing hundreds of micro-orifices. As the polymer strands emerge from the die head, they are immediately impinged upon by high-velocity hot air streams. This intense kinetic and thermal energy attenuates the polymer filaments into sub-micron or micro-scale fibers (typically ranging from 1 to 5 micrometers in diameter). These fibers are subsequently deposited onto a moving collector screen to form a highly cohesive web bound by self-entanglement and thermal fusion.
HG Nonwoven Machinery utilizes specialized polymer feed systems designed to handle high Melt Flow Rate (MFR 1200–1800) Polypropylene. The optimization of extrusion pressure, melt temperature uniformity, and hot air distribution is critical to avoiding common extrusion defects such as "shot" (unattenuated polymer droplets) or fly (extremely fine fibers escaping the collector stream). By maintaining a state-of-the-art manufacturing lab in China, we leverage local material science advances to engineer spin packs and die plates that sustain operational pressures of up to 10 MPa while keeping mechanical deflection to an absolute minimum.
China's manufacturing ecosystem has undergone an extensive paradigm shift from volume-driven production to ultra-precise engineering. Chinese factories, particularly HG Nonwoven Machinery, offer unique structural benefits:
The integrating of Spunbond (S) and Meltblown (M) processes in a single continuous production line (such as SMS, SMMS, and SSMMS) provides composite fabrics that balance high tensile strength with exceptional barrier capabilities. The spunbond layers provide structural integrity, abrasion resistance, and tensile durability, while the meltblown layers serve as a high-density barrier block against particulate matter and bacterial ingress.
Our 5th Generation spunbond spinning technology optimizes air drafting systems, lowering energy consumption and stabilizing filament speed. Under this system, air-drawing is achieved using high-pressure fans that cool and draw the filaments through a slot-drawing conduit. This ensures high crystalline orientation within the PP filaments, resulting in exceptional tensile strength even at lower basis weights (GSM). When coupled with our dual-beam or triple-beam meltblown heads, the composite line runs continuously, delivering high-speed production up to 400 m/min with uniform density distribution (CV value < 3%).
For applications requiring high-efficiency air filtration, such as N95/FFP2 face mask media and cleanroom air systems, mechanical filtration alone is insufficient. HG Nonwoven Machinery integrates online electrostatic charging units (corona and hydro-charging systems) directly into our meltblown lines.
By applying a high-voltage electrical field (up to 50kV) to the meltblown web immediately post-attenuation, we embed stable electric charges (electrets) within the fibers. These electrets attract and capture sub-micron particles through electrostatic force without increasing the inhalation resistance of the fabric. This allows manufacturers to achieve Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE) ratings above 99% while maintaining a low pressure drop.
By redesigning the hot air heating manifold and utilizing advanced thermal insulation jackets around the extruder barrel and spin pack, HG's 5th Gen systems achieve a 15% to 20% reduction in total energy consumption (kWh per ton of nonwoven fabric produced) compared to conventional designs.
